Hypnosis is completely natural. It can be described as a state of inner absorption, concentration or attention. Rather like that experienced when we are engrossed in reading a book, daydreaming, driving along a familiar route, or relaxing on a beach listening to the waves gently breaking.
You may have seen stage and TV hypnotists putting on a show, often involving groups of people at the same time. That is purely for entertainment and bears no resemblance to what happens during hypnotherapy.
